Fall is in the Air / East Maine Update for October 16, 2026

🚨 Attention PreK-8th Graders 🚨

Express your creativity in our annual Winter Card Contest! 

Deadline: Submit completed artwork and a signed parent/guardian release form to your school office by Thursday, November 5. 

The Prize: The winning design will be featured on the official District 63 winter card, website, and social media. The winner will also be honored at the December 3 Board of Education meeting alongside all Best in Show entries. 

All entries will be displayed at the Niles-Maine District Library in December.

Mark your calendars for our fall parent-teacher conferences! We encourage you to take this opportunity to connect with your child's teacher(s).

Celebrate the season with an evening packed full of activities, crafts, and trick-or-treating at the Family Resource Center Fall Fest on October 28!

The event will run from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. Admission is free, and costumes are welcome, but not required. 

Donations to help stock the marketplace are greatly appreciated. 

District 63 adjusted its original referendum plan based on community input. Proposed gym additions at Melzer, Nelson, and Twain, as well as a new cafeteria at Nelson, were removed. Other renovations, library updates, and classroom improvement projects were also scaled back.
