Grades 5-8 Summer Quest

Below are the Summer Quest Enrichment Program classes (and descriptions) offered to all students who will be in 5th-8th grade for the 2026-2027 school year. As noted in the Summer Quest Program page, students may choose session one (July 6-9 and July 13-16) OR session two (July 20-23 and July 27-30). 

Students will choose two classes in each session:

  • Class #1: 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.
  • Class #2: 2:15 - 3:15 p.m.

Enrollment is open April 1 - 30.  At that time, please visit the Summer Quest Program page to follow the directions and begin the registration process.    

Classes

  • Do you like to escape into magical worlds with fantastic characters and breathtaking creatures? Then this class is for you! Celebrate the fantasy genre by reading - and writing - epic tales. 

    • Rising grades 5-6
  • What makes a cake rise? How do you make the best scrambled eggs? Can you grow your own lollipop? Explore the science of cooking in this hands-on - and delicious - class!

    • Two sections:
      • Rising grades 5-6
      • Rising grades 7-8
  • Do you enjoy hands-on projects?  Have an eye for design? Have fun getting crafty with everyday materials in this interactive class - all levels welcome!

    • Rising grades 5-8
  • Learn, play, and develop key strategies for some of of the most popular multi-player board games, like Risk, Chess, or Checkers, to name a few.

    • Two sections:
      • Rising grades 5-6
      • Rising grades 7-8
  • For students who want to get in the game! Learn, practice, and play a variety of sports from around the world, including cricket, soccer, curling, and more!

    • Rising grades 7-8
  • Students will learn the fundamentals of capturing the perfect photo, including lighting and composition. Explore visual storytelling and develop your own "photographic eye" in this introductory course. 

    • Two sections offered:

  • Kick, flip, score… with Lego bricks! Students will explore forces and motion and use Lego bricks to build models that meet specific engineering challenges.

    • Rising grades 5-6
  • Students will explore both fictional and informational writing, experimenting with genres from short stories and poetry to memoirs and articles, all while developing their unique voice. This class fosters imaginative thinking and strengthens writing skills through engaging exercises and constructive peer feedback.

    • Rising grades 7-8
  • Do you love the show “Shark Tank?” Have an idea for a new product that consumers would love? Learn how to turn your idea into a business plan in this engaging, interactive class!

  • Crochet and Connect
    Learn the basics of crochet as you work on several hands-on projects!

  • Join other innovators to learn coding, design robots, and complete challenges as a team!
