Crossing Guards Needed
The Cook County Sheriff's Office seeks to hire two Crossing Guards to work under the supervision of the Cook County Sheriff's Police Department.  The Crossing Guard will be responsible for assisting and protecting school children crossing at one of two locations near the school to ensure the children cross the street properly and safely.
Location: 2710 Golf Rd. - Guard will cross children either the intersection of Golf Rd. and Washington Rd. or at the cross walk in front of the school on Washington Rd.
Hours - 8:40 a.m.to 9:10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday during the school year.  The work hours may be subject to change based on when school is in session, or other factors, including, but not limited to an early dismissal.
Rate:  Daily rate of $24.75 if both the morning and afternoon shifts are worked.  The Crossing Guard is enrolled in and contributes to the Cook County Pension Fund during employment.  
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (G.E.D.) certification
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be able to stand and walk for the entire shift without assistance
  • Be able to tolerate exposure to all types of weather conditions
  • Pass pre-employment processing, to include a background investigation(s).
  • Posses a valid Driver's License
