Dr. Alexandra Oreluk Appointed Gemini Principal

At its meeting on April 10, the East Maine School District 63 Board of Education approved the appointment of Dr. Alexandra Oreluk as Gemini Middle School’s new Principal. Dr. Oreluk, who currently serves as Principal of Willow Springs School District 108, will step into the role on July 1 as current Principal Lewis Roberts departs.

Dr. Oreluk began her career as a special education teacher at North Palos School District 117 in Hickory Hills. She moved on to serve as assistant principal in two districts – Frankfort Community Consolidated School District 157-C and Elmwood Park Community Unit School District 401 – before taking on her role at Willow Springs in 2021.

After completing her B.S. in special education at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Dr. Oreluk earned an M.A. in principal preparation from Concordia University and an Ed.D. in leadership and learning in organizations at Vanderbilt University.

District Superintendent Dr. Shawn Schleizer noted, "Dr. Oreluk stood out throughout the selection process for her communication, integrity, instructional leadership, and passion for middle-level education. She brings a well-rounded background that includes success as a teacher and administrator, a proven commitment to high expectations, consistent follow-through, and student-centered leadership.

Dr. Oreluk added, “I am honored to join District 63 as Gemini’s next Principal. It is truly a privilege to serve in a leadership role at a district so deeply committed to equity, excellence, and student growth. I am excited to continue Gemini’s legacy of excellence by fostering a culture of collaboration, respect, and achievement. Together, we will ensure that every student is supported, challenged, and empowered to succeed. I look forward to getting to know the students, staff, and families who make this such an outstanding community."
