This summer, D63 invites you to join us on a journey of learning! From our invitation-only morning programs and Summer Quest enrichment program in the afternoon - to Expanded Learning Summer Camp and Summer Music, there's something for everyone. Here's an overview of each program.
Summer Quest. June 24-July 18, 1:15-3:30 p.m. Participants choose one of two sessions during this time period.
Join us on a quest for learning! Through this free program, all students entering PK-8 in the 2024-2025 school year (and graduating 8th graders) can choose to spend their afternoons enjoying two enrichment classes - from art and creative writing to engineering, food science, and more! Multilingual Learner (ML) Summer Scholars (Invitation Only). June 24-July 18, 8:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
Students who qualify for Dual Language classes, or English language/bilingual services, are eligible to participate in this free program that provides language instruction and academic support for English learners. Free breakfast provided every day. Materials and transportation are provided free of charge. Students entering grades 1-4 in the 2024-2025 school year will attend Melzer; students entering grades 5-8 in the 2024-2025 school year will attend Apollo. Escuela de Verano para Estudiantes Multilingües (ML)
Los estudiantes que califican para clases de lenguaje dual o servicios de idioma inglés/bilingües son elegibles para participar en este programa. Todos los días se sirve un desayuno gratuito. La escuela de verano será gratuita este año, esto incluye transporte. Extended School Year (ESY) (Invitation Only). June 24-July 18, 8:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
Free morning program for students who qualify based on an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Free breakfast provided every day. Materials and transportation are provided free of charge.

ESY 1st-8th Program: Students entering grades 1-4 in the 2024-2025 school year will attend Melzer; students entering grades 5-8 in the 2024-2025 school year will attend Apollo. Contact Margie Scanlon at 847.493.8420 with questions.
Ready, Set, Kindergarten (RSK) (Invitation Only). June 24-July 18, 8:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
Free morning kindergarten readiness program that strengthens students' literacy, math, and social-emotional skills. In addition, participants have opportunities to apply language through listening, speaking, reading, and writing; and engage in dramatic play and academic centers. Held in person at the Early Learning Center, RSK is specifically designed for multilingual learners and/or students with limited preschool experiences. Free breakfast provided every day. Materials and transportation are provided free of charge.

RSK participants must be registered for kindergarten at D63 and parents must respond by the deadline noted in that invitation.

PLEASE NOTE: ROBOTICS CAMP IS NOW FULL. Robotics Camp. July 22-25, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. *NEW*
Free to all participants. Open to currently registered rising 6th-8th graders, this new camp introduces students to the fascinating and technical world of robotics. Campers will work together to complete activities that challenge to think critically and grow their understanding of coding and programming. Parents/guardians must provide transportation. Before- and after-care is also available through Expanded Learning for a fee, however, separate registration is required (see Expanded Learning Summer Camp Academy below).
Expanded Learning Summer Camp Academy. June 4 - August 13.
Fee-based all-day enrichment programs for students entering grades K-8 in the 2023-2024 school year. Registration is open!
Summer Instrumental Music Program. August 8-14, 8 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
Free to all participants. Beginning and intermediate band and orchestra students entering grades 4-8 in August may enroll in one 55-90 minute class. Registration is now closed.
Summer Reading Books. Enrollment closed.
This summer, current D63 students will once again receive their own collection of books to read - for free! Students may select books at school or from home (use these step-by-step instructions). The number of books varies based on current student grade (23-24):
- PreK-2: 12 books
- 3-5: 9 books
- 6-8: 7 books
