Brook
Alexandra Brook, President
Glenview • Board member since 2013
 
Ms. Brook, a 6th - 8th grade Math Teacher at Chicago’s William P. Gray School, has lived in District 63 since 1999. She earned her BA in biology from the University of Chicago, and an MS in health systems management from Rush University. A former Washington Elementary PTO President and Girl Scout troop co-leader, Ms. Brook served on the District’s Wellness and Discipline Committees prior to her election to the Board. Two of her children graduated from Gemini -- where her third child currently attends.


Tom Simmons Tom Simmons, Vice President
Glenview • Board member since 2007
 
Mr. Simmons, Operations Manager for Union Ridge School District 86 in Harwood Heights and Owner of A&B Bus Service, attended Melzer and what was then Apollo Junior High. His five children attended Nelson, Washington, and Gemini. A lifelong District resident, Mr. Simmons volunteered for 18 years in the schools as a math and reading tutor before joining the Board; he has served on the District 63 Education Foundation Board since 2000. Formerly Senior Vice President for Cole Taylor Bank, Mr. Simmons attended Herbert V Prochnow Graduate School of Banking at University of Wisconsin-Madison.


Gluzkin
Glenview • Board member since 2008

A District resident since 1987, Mr. Gluzkin is Program Manager for W.W. Grainger. He graduated from Maine East High School, and received his BA and MBA in marketing from DePaul University. Mr. Gluzkin participated in the Washington PTO, where his children attended school. His youngest child is at Gemini; his oldest child now attends Maine East. 


Kaczkowski Niles • Board member since 2007

A District resident since 1988, Ms. Kaczkowski’s three children attended Melzer, Nelson, and Gemini. She is a former Technical Writer for G.D. Searle, Motorola, and Anderson Consulting, and holds a BS in computer science from the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, with a minor in bioengineering; and a technical writing certificate from the Illinois Institute of Technology. Ms. Kaczkowski led the District’s successful effort to pass a referendum in 2004, and was an active member of the Nelson PTO. She has served on the District’s Financial Task Force, and on a range of District-wide committees, including Wellness, Technology, Discipline, and Strategic Design.


Sheila Urban
Sheila Urban
Niles • Board member since 2009
 
A lifelong resident of District 63, Ms. Urban attended Oak (now closed) and Gemini. Her three children followed suit, attending Nelson and Gemini, although her two oldest children have now moved on to Maine East. Ms. Urban, who holds a BA and an MA in special education from Loyola University, is a Special Education Teacher for District 84.5’s Rhodes School in River Grove. An active PTO volunteer, she chaired various committees – including Golf Mill’s “My School is Cool” contest, which garnered Nelson $5,000. Ms. Urban is on the District's Insurance Committee, and has served on D63's Technology Task Force and the East Maine Community Committee. She was previously the District’s representative to the former Low Incidence Cooperative Agreement (LICA), which served local hearing-impaired students.


Angelo Scarsella
Angelo Scarsella
Des Plaines • Board member since 2013

Mr. Scarsella, a District resident since 2004, is Senior Manager of Clinical Data Management and Technology at Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd. After earning his BS in psychology from Loyola University and an MA in clinical psychology from Roosevelt University, he began his career in social work before shifting to the pharmaceutical industry in 1999. A long-time youth hockey coach, Mr. Scarsella has three children. 


Krystal Zec Krystal Zec
Morton Grove • Board member since 2012


A District resident since 2006, Mrs. Zec's three children attend Nelson Elementary. She is a Tax Manager at Deloitte, and earned her BS in accounting from DeVry Institute of Technology and an MA in taxation from DePaul University -- as well as holding a CPA license. Outside of work, Mrs. Zec stays active with the school, District, and community. She was formerly Nelson PTO president, still chairs the annual Fall Festival, produces the yearbook, and maintains the PTO website. Mrs. Zec also volunteers with the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) and the Niles Park District's Team Iceland and Ice Infinity synchronized skating team -- and serves as team parent for the boys team at American Spirit Soccer Club.
