Hello, my name is Beverly Mendoza and I am the 7th Grade Math Teacher for Team Hercules. During the school year, we will be using the Open Up Resource Curriculum. Students will not be using textbooks this year. Instead, all of the lessons will be completed on the Classkick.com website. Aside from daily lessons, students will engage in math stations that encourage discussion with their peers. A working notebook will be utilized with foldables of anchor charts, vocabulary, and daily practice. Please provide your child with a red notebook. Homework will be assigned as needed. Please check their assignment notebook for their homework. They should be writing in their assignment notebook whether or not homework is assigned for the day. If there is no homework, I will tell them to write in NO HW. Homework will be put on PowerSchool, so please check that daily.
Because the math content is online, it is very important that each student charges their chromebooks on a daily basis. They need to make sure that their chromebooks are in their cases. If there are any tech issues, please issue a help ticket through the tech offices. They are very quick to remedy the situation.
I will be co-teaching Mx. Jennings during the day to create lessons and strategies that will support your child's learning. Our goal in class is to develop their math knowledge to prepare them for the next level in math. Also, we will develop math language through vocabulary, discussion, and examples. I will support what they are learning in class as well as target their individual math levels.

Los estudiantes no usarán libros de texto este año. En cambio, todas las lecciones se completarán en el sitio web Classkick.com. Aparte de las lecciones diarias, los estudiantes participarán en estaciones de matemáticas que fomentan la discusión con sus compañeros. Se utilizará un cuaderno de trabajo con tablas de anclaje plegables, vocabulario y práctica diaria. Proporcione a su hijo un cuaderno rojo. Se asignarán tareas según sea necesario. Por favor revise su cuaderno de tareas para ver su tarea. Deben escribir en su cuaderno de tareas si se asignan o no tareas para el día. Si no hay tarea, les diré que escriban NO HW. La tarea se pondrá en PowerSchool, así que revísela diariamente.
Debido a que el contenido de matemáticas está en línea, es muy importante que cada estudiante cargue sus Chromebooks a diario. Deben asegurarse de que sus Chromebooks estén en sus estuches. Si hay algún problema técnico, emita un ticket de ayuda a través de las oficinas de tecnología. Son muy rápidos para remediar la situación.
Enseñaré al Mx. Jennings durante el día para crear lecciones y estrategias que apoyarán el aprendizaje de su hijo. Nuestro objetivo en clase es desarrollar sus conocimientos de matemáticas para prepararlos para el siguiente nivel en matemáticas. Además, desarrollaremos el lenguaje matemático a través de vocabulario, discusión y ejemplos. Apoyaré lo que están aprendiendo en clase y me enfocaré en sus niveles individuales de matemáticas.
