Glenview • Board member since 2013. Ms. Brook, a 6th - 8th grade Math Teacher at Chicago’s William P. Gray School, has lived in District 63 since 1999. She earned her BA in biology from the University of Chicago, and an MS in health systems management from Rush University. A former Washington Elementary PTO President and Girl Scout troop co-leader, Ms. Brook served on the District’s Wellness and Discipline Committees prior to her election to the Board. During her tenure on the Board, she has also served on the STEM and Insurance Committees, and is currently on the Family Resource Center Stakeholder Committee, along with serving as a Board representative during EMEA negotiations. All three of Ms. Brook's children attended D63 schools, graduating from Gemini - and then Maine East High School. Her current term of office ends in April of 2025.
Glenview • Board member since 2007. Mr. Simmons attended Melzer and what was then Apollo Junior High. His five children attended Nelson, Washington, and Gemini. A lifelong District resident, Mr. Simmons volunteered for 18 years in the schools as a math and reading tutor before joining the Board; he has served on the District 63 Education Foundation Board since 2000. Formerly Senior Vice President for Cole Taylor Bank, Mr. Simmons attended Herbert V Prochnow Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The current term of office ends in April of 2027. |
Morton Grove • Board member since 2018. Appointed to the Board in October 2018, and then elected to a full term in 2019, Ms. Anderson has lived in the District since 2015. Ms. Anderson currently serves as the Board's delegate to the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) and on the District's Student Discipline Advisory Committee. An active volunteer at her church and a past American Youth Soccer Organization Board member, she holds bachelor’s degrees in English and marriage, family, and human development from Brigham Young University. Ms. Anderson has three children, one at Gemini and two at Melzer. Her current term of office ends in April of 2027.
Niles • Board member since 2023. A District resident since 1999, Maria Kuhlman is a D63 alumna herself, having attended what was then Gemini Junior High. She has two children, one of whom attends Nelson. Currently a General Manager for Jones Lang LaSalle Americas, Inc., where she previously served as an Industrial Property Manager, she holds a B.S. from Dominican University in dietetics & food science and management. Kuhlman's appointment will run through April of 2025, when the seat will be filled through local elections.
Morton Grove • Board member since 2023. Jaini Mody has lived in District 63 since 2008 and has two children who attend Melzer. A family physician, she has worked with Skypoint Medical Center for ten years and does rounds with patients at Northwest Community and Alexian Brothers Hospitals. She earned her M.D. from Texas A&M University. Her appointment will run through April of 2025, when the seat will be filled by local elections.
Morton Grove • Board member since 2022. A District resident since 2014, Mr. Patel has two children - one of whom attends Melzer. Currently Operations Manager for Banks Appraisal Group, his career in real estate appraisal and analysis spans more than 12 years. Past positions include Vice President of Operations for First Look Appraisals and Inventory Manager and Senior Associate for Lakeshore Management. Mr. Patel holds a BS in accounting from DePaul University. The current term of office ends in April of 2027.
Niles • Board member since 2009. A lifelong resident of District 63, Ms. Urban attended Oak (now closed) and Gemini. Her three children followed suit, attending Nelson and Gemini - all have now graduated from Maine East. Ms. Urban, who holds a BA and an MA in special education from Loyola University, is a Special Education Teacher for District 84.5’s Rhodes School in River Grove. An active PTO volunteer, she chaired various committees including Golf Mill’s “My School is Cool” contest, which garnered Nelson $5,000. Ms. Urban is on the District's Insurance Committee and has served on D63's Technology Task Force and the East Maine Community Committee. She was previously the District’s representative to the former Low Incidence Cooperative Agreement (LICA), which served local hearing-impaired students. Her current term of office ends in April of 2025.
