Student Teaching in D63
Thank you for your interest in student teaching in District 63. Below you will find information on the application and placement process.
Application Process:
All prospective student teachers must submit an application in order to be considered for placement. To get started with your student teaching application, click here.
As part of the application process, you will be required to upload the following documents:
- A letter of request for placement from the University
- All applicable transcripts (unofficial are acceptable)
- A resume
Deadlines:
Fall Student Teaching: June 30
Spring Student Teaching: October 1
Approval and Placement Process:
Applications will be reviewed by school administrators and potential cooperating teachers. An interview may be required with the potential cooperating department. Once a placement is made, a letter with placement details including cooperating teacher information and content area will be sent to the University. Please note that placements are limited and are based on the number of cooperating teachers in the requested content areas. Requests by applicants for placement in a specific school may not be honored. Additionally, completion of the student-teacher application and/or interview does not guarantee placement.
Student teachers who are approved for placement will need to provide the following to the Human Resources Department prior to the start of their student teaching:
- Negative TB test results
- A physical exam documenting the individual is free of communicable diseases
- Fingerprint-based background check results from current university
- DCFS Mandated Reporter Certificate
