Dear studenst, parents, and or guardians,

Please let me take this opportunity to introduce myself and to welcome you Grade 4.  I have been teaching at Mark Twain since 1990.  In the course of my 29 years here, I have taught second, fourth, fifth, and multi-age 5/6.  In addition to being a classroom teacher, I also served the school as the building specialist for three years.

4th grade will be filled with a variety of experiences both academic and social.  Expect these experiences to be fun, challenging, exciting and sometimes stressful as you, and or your child learns to adapt to our class.  Please remember, that as you, or your child advances from third to fourth grade, higher expectation will be placed upon you, or him or her to become responsible for all academic work and for one's behavior.  For some you, and or your child, the transition will be easier than it is for others.  Some students may need extra assistance from home and at school to help make the transition as smooth as possible.  Together as a team, we can make your, and or your child's experience in Grade 4 worthwhile and positive!!

Parents, I will be communicating with you throughout the year.  Communication can be by telephone, the assignment notebook, parent notices, letters, E-mail, website, bi-weekly newsletters and progress reports. Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions, comments, or concerns.    The best way to contact me is through the district E-mail at jschlebecker@emsd63.org.  I can also be reached by phone at 847-296-5341 extension #8662.

Students, I am so excited to be your teacher and I look forward to working with you every day!!  I hope you will be BRAVE, and take lots of risks.  Afterall, we learn best from our mistakes.

Looking forward to a great year!!

    Ms. Schlebecker
