Welcome to room 107!
I am happy to welcome you to another exciting year in first grade!
My name is Teresa Simpson and I am thrilled to be your teacher this year! I am passionate about childhood development and have been teaching in District 63 for over 25 years. I have continued to develop as a teacher through my graduate studies and numerous professional development seminars. I have also had the privilege of partnering with my wonderful colleagues at Mark Twain School to develop innovative approaches to customize my teaching strategies in the classroom. My teaching philosophy is simple -- I believe all students can succeed socially, emotionally, and academically.
I attended Northeastern Illinois University for my undergraduate and graduate degrees. I am also bilingual in Polish. In fact, I was a non-English speaking student who knows first hand the challenges of learning a second language.
I lived in Maine Township for the past 20 years with my husband and four children. I also have three adorable dogs. I am active in the community and I frequently see my current and former students in the neighborhood.
My best to you this year!
