Welcome to Mrs. Kelsey's 2nd Grade Class!

  • My name is Nikki Kelsey and I am so excited to be your teacher this year! I want to take the time to introduce myself to you and your family.
I am entering my fifth year teaching primary grade students. I received my bachelor's degree from Illinois State University in English Studies as well as my teaching certificate from Northeastern Illinois University with endorsemnts in Language Arts and Social Studies. I grew up in Niles where I still reside with my family. When I am not teaching, I enjoy watching sports (Go Bears), trying new restaurants, traveling, and spending time with my little guy (Jay), friends and family. I am eager and excited to get to know you and your child and work with you this year!
This is an exciting time as children embark upon new adventures in the world of learning! My goal is to ensure every one of my students meets their own personal goals and reaches their highest potential. The focus for my students is one that fosters independence, promotes social emotional learning,  provides choice, and gives students the tools they need to be curious learners who will continue to learn in all areas of life.
I know this year's learning will look and feel a little different for both students and parents but I want to ensure that all my students and parents are supported and heard within this new learning environment. It is my priority to ensure I am communicating consistently and effectively with you to help support my student's learning and needs! Please feel free to always reach out to me with any learning questions or concerns as well as any technical issues you may experience as we begin to embark on this learning journey together!
