Welcome!
I have been an instructor/librarian at Gemini since 2003, having taught 7th and 8th grade ELA, Read 180, Creative Writing, Reading Enrichment, and Social Studies. I earned my undergraduate degree from Western Illinois University in elementary education with a concentration in English. During my time at Gemini, I earned an MA in School Counseling from Roosevelt University, an MA in Instructional Design and Technology from American College of Education, a Certificate in Library Science from Northern Illinois University, and spent countless hours completing professional development. As a lifelong learner, I find that I am always busy learning new skills that will translate into the classroom!
Having spent my entire career at Gemini (I even student taught here!), it truly has become a home for me. I admire the commitment of my fellow colleagues and thoroughly enjoy the wonderful students and families that I have gotten to know over the years.
I am so excited about this year's library programming. There will be a lot of fun learning experiences coming your way. I will also be teaching sections of Executive Functioning and Creative Writing. Please feel free to contact me at any time at jwahlers@emsd63.org.
