After coming on board as a substitute nurse in 2008, Ms. Gilger stepped into her role at District 63 in 2009. She has worked in various health settings including medical/surgical, oncology, orthopedic, pediatrics, same-day surgery, and hospital pain centers. Ms. Gilger earned an A.D. in nursing from Oakton Community College, a B.S. in nursing from Lewis University, and a certificate in legal nurse consulting from Kaplan University. She has taught exercise classes and served as a personal trainer, and holds fitness certifications from the American Council on Exercise and the National Association of Sports Medicine. Since 1997 Ms. Gilger has served on the Board of Have Dreams, a nonprofit she co-founded that works with children and adults with autism.
