Welcome to Mrs. O'Donnell's First Grade Classroom!
My name is Jami O'Donnell and I'm very excited to have your family be part of my classroom. I want to take the time to introduce myself to you and your family. I have been teaching at Nelson since 2003 and have taught all of the primary grade levels - Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd!
I love getting to the know the families in my classroom as I'm sure you would love getting to know moreabout me too. My husband (Tim), my two sons (TJ and Tyler), and myself live in Prospect Heights with our dogs, Rex and Raven. Mr. O'Donnell is a physical education teacher in Evanston/Skokie School District 65 and TJ & Tyler are active boys who love to read, swim, play baseball, and spend their time outdoors. I completed my first Masters from Concordia in School Leadership/Type 75 and also completed a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from American College of Education.
I base my classroom around a positive classroom community. I encourage my students to gain independence while making positive choices. I am only one person, so I ask of you to become a partner with me throughout our journey in 1st grade. We will work together to motivate your child to make good choices and exhibit positive behaviors. I will do as much as I can throughout the school day and I know you will do as much as you can at home. Together, we will work to help your child become a life-long learner!
