Welcome District 63 Families!
My name is Ms. Lauren Comia and this is my second year teaching! Prior to teaching, I was a Licensed Practical Nurse and working as a pediatric home health nurse taking care of medically fragile children. I found my love for teaching young children with diverse backgrounds and abilities as I started attending school with my patients as their nurse. I graduated from Elmhurst College with a Bachelors of Arts in Early Childhood Education. I also received my Special Education Letter of Approval and endorsement for teaching English Language Learners.
I am a huge advocate for open-communication and working with my families to ensure success inside and outside of the classroom. As I work closely with your child, I would like to get to know them and your families as well. You know your child best and the more I know and understand about your child, the more effective I can be as a teacher. I want to include your child’s background knowledge, family life, and interests in the classroom because it will help engage them in their learning.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns. I can’t wait to work with you this year to help your child grow and be successful! Looking forward to an awesome year!
