• Meet the Teacher

Hello! My name is Kelsey Menner, and I am a Reading Interventionist at Apollo Elementary School. I began working at East Maine School District in 2016. I taught 1st/2nd grade at Melzer School for three years and have been teaching at Apollo since 2019. I have my English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement and my Reading Recovery certification. I am excited to be a part of the Bulldog community and service our students to strengthen their literacy skills!

Before moving to Chicago, I attended The University of Tennessee where I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Elementary Education. I also received my Master's degree in Elementary Education through The Univeristy of Tennessee's year long program. While earning my Master's degree, I had the opportunity to teach in a variety of schools grades K-6. Following my time at UT, I taught kindergarten for two years in Knoxville, TN and one year in New Orleans.

I am originally from Pittsburgh, PA so I love watching the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins. I have one sister in Rhode Island, another in Portland, OR and my parents live in Houston, TX. I love to travel and visit my friends and family whenever I can. I have enjoyed living in many different places, but I am very happy to call Chicago home! I enjoy exploring the city and checking out all of the theaters, outdoor activities, and especially the restaurants!

This is going to be a wonderful year! Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns.

    Thank you!
