Art with Fourth Grade

Fourth graders are learning about architecture and how structural forms can be expressive and creative. They constructed an architectural scape in "bas relief" (slightly raised surfaces). They decorated their pieces, using several different processes, and a wide assortment of different materials. This technique is called "mixed media" and offers students numerous choices as they create their piece.
Students have been gaining inspiration from a local Chicago artist named Gary Bradley. Bradley uses found materials in amazing ways, and his colorful, animated work reveals mixed media at it's finest!  Mrs. D. owns a piece of art by Gary Bradley, and brought it into class for
the students to examine and admire. When their projects are finished, we will write a letter to Mr. Bradley, explaining what we have learned, and may even share some photos of our work!
