     CIRCLE WEAVING

Third graders are learning the concept of weaving using a paper plate as a loom. Looms, which hold the weaving together, were constructed by threading yarn in a clock rotation, through cuts in the paper plate. The threads are then tied off to "center" the loom, then assorted yarns, ribbons and beads are threaded and woven around the loom to complete the weaving.

Weaving is a high order thinking process, requiring focus, concentration and balance, to achieve a successful result. Students are having a wonderful time combining materials and colors into their beautiful circular weavings!
