    CCSS: Grade 3 Reading Foundational Skills

    This includes drawing quotes and citations from text; themes/main idea and details, compare and contrast story elements or various texts, analyze various elements that contribute to meaning, tone of a text, or point of view; read and comprehend various literature and technical texts.

     

    Literacy Whole Group

    -Vocabulary (ie: Context Clue Strategies)

    -Language (ie: Figurative Language, Greek/Latin Roots, etc).

    -Literary Strategies (ie: Close Reading)

    -Literary Topics for both Literature and Informational Text (ie: Theme, Point of View, Inferencing, Main Idea, Text Structure, etc).

    CCSS: Grade 3 Informational Text
    Standards for informational Text are completed through Guided Reading throughout the year. Leveled Texts are selected from informational textbooks, NewsELA, Readworks, Reading A-Z, and various other educational resources. We also do a lot of cross-curricular work by integrating Science and Social Studies topics and aligning them to informational CCSS. 

     

    Trimester 1: Narrative Writing

    Trimester 2: Informational Writing

    Trimester 3: Opinion Writing

     
    CCSS: Grade 3 Language
    -Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing
    -Determine or clarify the meaning of unknown and multiple-meaning words and phrases based on grade 3 reading and content, choosing flexibly from a range of strategies
    -Demonstrate understanding of figurative language, word relationships, and nuances in word meanings
    -Acquire and use accurately grade-appropriate general academic and domain-specific words and phrases 
     
  • Math

     

    Eureka Math is common core aligned and lessons are organized into Modules.
    Lesson are taught daily for 75 minutes
     
    Lessons include:
    -fluency practice
    -sprints
    -application problems 
    -concept development
    -problem sets
    -exit slips
    -daily homework
     
    Students are given Mid-Module Assessments and Summative Module Assessments that will be the only grades entered into gradebook for Math.
