    Greetings!

My name is Ashley Coughlin.  I have been teaching at Nelson School since 2014, and I couldn't be happier about continuing to teach at such a welcoming, diverse, and hard-working school.

Education and job background: I graduated from Northeastern Illinois University with a bachelor's in Elementary Education and an endorsement to teach English as a Second Language.  As of August 2018, I completed my master's in Literacy Education from NEIU.  Before joining the Nelson family, I worked as an ESL resource teacher in Prospect Heights, Illinois, and a teacher assistant for grades K-3 in Northfield, Illinois.  I also enjoy finding ways to incorporate my 10 years of experience working at summer day camps and after-school programs into my work here at Nelson.

Personal Life: My husband and I live in Evanston, Illinois, and we LOVE exploring our town together!  One of our favorite things to do is take bike rides along the lake up to Northwestern.  In my own time, I love craft nights with my friends, going to Zumba at my gym (hopefully one day again!), and hanging out with family.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you have throughout the school year.  We can communicate via email, phone, Seesaw, (and hopefully one day) in-person - anything you need!  I am here to support your child, keep them safe, and keep them excited about learning.  Together, it will be a fantastic year!
