Summer Programs at District 63

  • SUMMER SCHOOL INFORMATION FOR 2020: Due to the current situation regarding COVID-19, D63 will be cancelling most summer school program and shifting others to a remote learning format. See each program below for details.
     
    General information from past years: Unless otherwise noted, all Summer Programs are by invitation only and run Monday - Thursday. There are no classes on Fridays. Bus information is mailed home in June. Summer programs generally take place from late June through late July. 
     

    2020 Information: 

     
    Ready, Set, Kindergarten (RSK) • 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. CANCELLED
    Staff is exploring the idea of putting together “readiness packets” to distribute to incoming kindergarten students. Stay tuned for more information. 
    General information from past years: A kindergarten readiness program that strengthens students' literacy and math skills. Materials, bus, and snacks are provided free of charge. In general, students attend the program at their home school Buses stop in front of each student’s home to pick up and drop off. Teachers ride the buses on the first day of the program to assist the students on and off the bus. Parents must respond to invitation by the deadline (noted in the invitation) - and must submit kindergarten medical forms to the Health Office before the first day of RSK.     Extended School Year (ESY) Summer Program • 8:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. WILL TAKE PLACE REMOTELY JUNE 29-JULY 23
    Available to eligible students with IEPs. 
    General information from past years: Free breakfast provided every day. There will be no lunch hour; do not send a lunch with your child to school. ESY Summer Program busing is free. Contact Margie Scanlon at 847.493.8420 with questions.
     
    Extended School Year (ESY) Pre-K Summer Program • 8:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. WILL TAKE PLACE REMOTELY JUNE 29-JULY 23
    Available to eligible students with IEPs. Details are still being finalized, but the program will involve some online face-to-face time combined with other types of e-learning, including online small group work and work that can be completed at home with parent support.

    English Language Learner (ELL) Summer School • 8:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. CANCELLED
    Families have access to activity boards they can engage in together. The District will also be sending books home for students to use.

    General information from past years: Students who qualify for ELL or bilingual services are eligible to participate. Free breakfast provided every day. There will be no lunch hour; do not send a lunch with your child to school. Contact Clara Vargas at 847.493.8421 with questions.
