Thanks to All of the Washington Community for Making OUR SCHOOL Such a Wonderful Place!
This week, I want to take the time to give a big THANK YOU to everyone involved in making Washington School such a great place! The Washington Community (staff, students, and parents) are unlike anything I have experienced as an educator in the amount of pride, care, and respect everyone has for one another. Since I began my position as principal in July, I have been greeted warmly on my very first day with emails and visits from many parents and staff wishing me a successful school year. They also stated that they would be available to give me a hand as needed. How amazing is that? It was only my first day, and it already felt like home!
From that day on, I have been in awe of the constant unparalleled amount of pride, care, and respect on a daily basis. Parents…you must know that since the students started, they are consistently respectful, kind, helpful, and have a great enthusiasm for learning. And we thank you all for supporting your children and us in educating and preparing them to move forward in an ever-changing world!
You also need to know that this is not just obvious to me, but to others as well! Recently, Washington School was visited by an educator from another district. This visitor was at Washington School last week to go on a tour of our building, meet our staff, and discover what makes our school so successful. Her goal was to take the experiences gained from her visit back to other educators in hopes of encouraging them to apply some of our best practices to their schools. At the end of the day, I met with this educator and she told me about some ideas and teaching practices that she is going to share with others, and said that they could use immediately at their schools. She then ended our conversation by stating that she had never been to a school in her entire career that was as friendly, nurturing, and academic-focused as Washington School! She wished she could stay here all the time because it felt “like home” to her. She then departed by commenting that she wished she could take the “spirit” of Washington School back her for all schools to experience!
With that in mind…I have to thank everyone involved in making our school such a great place!
Thank you for everything you do!
