Intermediate Band

Welcome to the Intermediate Band Home Page.  The Intermediate Band is for 6th grade students in their 2nd year of band from any of the six district elementary schools.

Below is a list of important events coming up in January.

Thursday, January 12 – Full morning rehearsal 

Stevenson, Mark Twain, and Apollo INTERMEDIATE band students should come to the band rehearsal from 7:45-8:40 a.m. along with the regularly scheduled Washington, Melzer and Nelson band students’ intermediate band rehearsal.  Schools have been notified that these students will arrive late to school.

Saturday, January 15 – BAND CLINIC 

This is a very important, mandatory clinic and dress rehearsal to prepare for our winter band concert. In addition to the regular band directors, we will also bring in several other teachers to help the students have a great experience and prepare better for the concert. We hope that you will make every effort possible to take advantage of this excellent opportunity. 

Where: Gemini Junior High: enter door #10 (the doors next to the band room).  The gates near the band room will be open for parents to drive into the parking lot and drop off their students.

When: Beginning Band Students 8-9:30 a.m.

           Intermediate Band Students 9:30-11:00 a.m.

 Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your groups start time so you are ready to play when your group starts.

Wednesday, January 18 – Full morning rehearsal

Washington, Melzer, and Nelson INTERMEDIATE band students would come to the band rehearsal from 7:15-8:10 a.m. along with the regularly scheduled Stevenson, Mark Twain, and Apollo band students’ intermediate band rehearsal. Schools have been notified that these students will arrive early to school.

Wednesday, January 18 – WINTER CONCERT!

Where: Gemini Junior High, in the Gold Gym

Time: Our concert begins at 6:00 P.M.

          Call time for students is 5:30 P.M.

Concert Dress: As was stated in our band handbook, students do have specific requirements for concert dress.  Students are to wear the following:                                                           Ladies:  white blouse, black pants, black socks, nice dark shoes

Gentlemen:  white dress shirt, tie, black pants and socks, nice dark shoes

Rehearsals Place:  The Intermediate Band rehearses in the Gemini Junior High Band Room.

Rehearsal Times and Days:   

The Nelson, Washington, and Melzer Beginning Band rehearses on Thursday mornings from 7:45-8:40 a.m. 

The Apollo, Stevenson and Mark Twain Beginning Band rehearses on Wednesday mornings from 7:15-8:20 a.m.  

Families are responsible for transportation to Gemini, but the district buses will take the students from Gemini to their proper elementary schools.  The first rehearsals will be Wednesday October 26th and Thursday October 27th.

Lessons: Every district band student receives a small group lesson one time per week at their school.  Please click on the appropriate link in the "Lesson Schedule Files" on the right for your son or daughter's band lesson schedule. (This will be updated soon)
