Summer Programs at District 63

Unless otherwise noted, all 2017 Summer Programs are by invitation only and run July 10 - August 3, Monday-Thursday. There are no classes on Fridays. Bus information will be mailed home in June.
 
Ready, Set, Kindergarten (RSK) • 8:30 - 11:30 a.m.
A kindergarten readiness program that strengthens students' literacy and math skills. Materials, bus, and snacks are provided free of charge. Classes are generally held in the students’ home schools. However, due to summer building construction, Melzer, Nelson, and Washington students will be located at Nelson; Apollo, Mark Twain, and Stevenson students will be located at Stevenson. Buses stop in front of each student’s home to pick up and drop off. Teachers ride the buses on the first day of the program to assist the students on and off the bus. Parents must respond to invitation by Friday, June 2 - and must submit kindergarten medical forms to the Health Office before the first day of RSK. Extended School Year (ESY) Summer Program • 8:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
Held at Nelson School, 8901 Ozanam Avenue, Niles. Free breakfast provided every day. There will be no lunch hour; do not send a lunch with your child to school. ESY Summer Program busing is free. During the summer of 2017, students will attend this program at Nelson. Check back for registration date. Contact Margie Scanlon at 847.493.8420 with questions.
 
Extended School Year (ESY) Pre-K Summer Program • 8:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
Held at Nelson School, 8901 Ozanam Avenue, Niles. Free breakfast provided every day. There will be no lunch hour; do not send a lunch with your child to school. ESY Summer Program busing is free. During the summer of 2017, students will attend this program at Stevenson. Contact Marykaye Roycroft at 847.745.6487 with questions. 
 
English as a Second Language (ESL) Summer School • 8:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
Students who qualify for ESL or bilingual services are eligible to participate. Held at Nelson School, 8901 Ozanam Avenue, Niles. Free breakfast provided every day. There will be no lunch hour; do not send a lunch with your child to school. During the summer of 2017, students will attend the program at Nelson. Application deadline: Friday, May 5.
