  • Charting Our Community's Course: Make Your Voice Heard

Do you live in unincorporated Maine Township? Here’s a chance to make your voice heard.

The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) and Cook County are working on a community plan for the Maine-Northfield unincorporated area, much of which is within District 63’s boundaries. Surrounded by Des Plaines, Glenview, Niles, Morton Grove, and Park Ridge, this large unincorporated area has never benefitted from a thoughtful, strategic plan for growth and development.

    Now is the time.

To create a strong plan that can successfully shape the area for the next decade, resident input is essential and CMAP wants to hear from you! What do you like about our area? What would you change? What are your ideas about flooding, housing, transportation, parks and open space? If you live in the unincorporated area or attend school there, take CMAP’s online survey before January 31.

    Learn more about the plan:

For more information, contact CMAP Project Manager John Carlisle at 312.386.8839, or Cook County Project Liaison James Wilson at 312.603.0544.

Thanks to the 57 D63 students who submitted entries for our first Winter Card Design Contest! Representing all seven of our schools, our young artists created whimsical, beautiful, wintery scenes that filled the District office with holiday cheer.

Top honors went to Melzer 5th grader Isabella Rozenbergas, whose winter scene graces the front of the D63 2016 card. Congratulations are in order also for the rest of our "Best in Grade" winners, who were honored at the December 7 Board of Education meeting. You can find all of the winning entries in our online photo album (just click the "i" in the top left-hand corner of each picture for details.)

To catch a glimpse of all contest entries, stop by the Niles Public Library District throughout December.  You'll find a beautiful display case (pictured above) on the first floor showcasing our students' fine work!
